Chapter 16 part 2

The Haitian Revolution was between 1791-1804 of course this was a different revolution from the rest. Saint Domingue was later renamed Haiti, where the the Haitian revolution was named. This was the colony that was considered the richest in the world. Saint Domingue boasted 8,000 plantations, which in the late 1800 centuries produced 40% of the worlds sugar, and half of its coffee. The amount of slaves made up the majority of the colonies population, roughly 500,000 slaves. Fractions of slaves, whites, and free people of color battled one another. The Spanish and British wanted to enlarge there empires at the expense of the French. Which only made things worse than what they already seemed. Because of the confusion and brutality, power gravitated towards the slaves. Toussaint Louverture led the slaves, he was a former slave. The Haitian Revolution divided race and class, which led into independence debt. A financial burden was caused and was wasn't solved until a century later.

The Spanish American Revolution was between 1808-1825. This was considered the final act in a half century of the Atlantic revolutionary. This revolution was shaped from the events that happened in North America, France, and Haiti. As in British North America, native borns (creoles) in the Spanish colonies were offended and insulted by the Spanish monarchy. The Spanish waned to protest rather than to outrage. They declared war, but unity. The Spanish colonies  shaped the wealthiest areas in America.
